Matt Crawford will be joining the Spiders for his 4th straight season with the Spiders. Matthew Crawford was a highly talented player from Sonoma State best known for his athleticism and defensive prowess. He joined the Spiders in 2015 to shore up the Spiders defensive line. He's continued that role and improved upon it, as one of the Spider's defensive leaders in 2017. His poach block near the end of regulation against the Seattle Cascades was a pivotal moment in the Spiders 6 game winning streak at the beginning of the 2017 season. He is a threat on the turn as well. He tied Brandon Fein for most goals scored by a defensive starter and he threw the most assists of all the defensive starters.

Upon attending Sonoma State University, Matthew joined the Sonoma Ultimate Club Team, Grapes of Wrath, late in his Junior year.
